I am truly saddened that some of the editorial members of the St Pete Times have embraced and are perpetuating discrimination. Thankfully it’s not racism or sexism, although if one starts to discriminate, I believe as many Supreme Court Justices have more eloquently stated, that it’s a slippery slope to other forms and types of injustices.
I think discrimination is an invidious cancer that needs to be eradicated. Narrow minded people who categorize and condemn people with generalities or who define and denigrate groups them by a single trait should be shuned rather then elevated to editorial writers.
For instance, anyone who eschews the liberal left simply because of the hysterical statements of Cindy Sheehan or the incredibly biased cinmatic scams of Michael Moore is guilty of discrimination. So too are the folks that find the conservative right simple and contemptible because of their personal faith.
Intelligence and ignorance cannot be discerned by the degree to which other people share your views; but it can be whenever you denigrate others to elevate yourself.
